August 30-September 5  |  Tracking Dinner

Mom brought Mr. and Mrs. Duck to dine at our house this week. Such a treat to show them the house and spend a lovely evening together. We talked a lot about beautiful serving-ware pieces that reflect our heritage as well as the mixed origins of our meal. So, I thought I would track the things we spoke about and put them on the map to see what it would look like - kinda cool…

The kebab recipe hailed from Lebanon, Ras El Hanout from Morocco, Harissa from Northern Africa, Duhkka from Egypt, thinly roasted eggplant from Upstate NY, carrots and sorrel from our garden in Medford - all layered in chick pea crepes, or “socca,” a recipe from Nice, France. We drank G&T’s in our gorgeous, pastel-colored cocktail glasses that Tim’s grandparents brought from Sweden, and served ourselves from stainless bowls and plates hailing from Denmark. Renee, who is from Germany near the Black Forest brought us sunflowers and I put them in our most favorite and most appropriate vase - a gift from Bjorn in Berlin.
