Six Feet From Uganda
Haven’t seen Dad in a couple of months due to illness and quarantine. He and Gary decided on a “road trip from Asheville!” to see the progress we have made on our land. They brought their dinners so we could all sit far away from one another but still share a meal in the best meaning of that phrase. Gary’s daughter is a wedding dress designer in Asheville and has turned her skills to making face masks with fabrics from Uganda, the country of her husband’s origin, in an effort to support the Ugandan people who are struggling through this pandemic with far fewer resources than we have at our disposal.
So there we were - the four of us in our typically boring American attire adorned with face masks of beautifully vibrant colors and energetic patterns. Thank you to Tara and the people of Uganda for sharing your color with us during a time of too often colorless days.
