Birthday Sunshine on Main Street

Luckily I planned ahead of this pandemic and ordered a pork shoulder and black beans for Tim’s annual Birthday Cuban Pork Roast. But as the day before his birthday rolled around I realized I had forgotten a few key items and hallelujah here’s the thing...we are so outrageously fortunate to have (in our wee town of under 1000!) a market on Main Street that cares about our community health and wellbeing. John and Emily opened up this shop when even less was happening around here and took such a huge risk on a small population being willing to spend a bit more for quality, convenience and in support of local goods.

These days I can only imagine how exhausted they are: taking our orders and payment over email and phone, shopping for us and boxing up our goods, storing cold and frozen items in the back and walking it all out to our cars when we call.

As Tim drove up I hopped out to snap a photo of this crazy moment in time - and I was struck as I have been in the past by their beautiful logo featuring golden rays of sunshine. I also loved Emily’s happy red pants - perhaps a little ying to the yang of having to wear a face mask.

Crazy times with rays of light in all kinds of unexpected places. Happy BDay to my husband and so much gratitude to John, Emily, their three kiddos and the entire team for helping us get through this thing.
