Labor of Love

Labor of Love

Got a call at 7:30am from Mark and his family who work on the road when needed. Having heard about the heavy rains headed our way Sunday he simply said: “we’re coming up to clear the drains, be there in 10.” We’d already engaged a crew to complete the stone drainage channel and grading behind the house so this place was all about heavy machinery & hard labor in advance of yet another round of unprecedented rainfall.

Not to be outdone, Tim and I headed down to the creek to cut down and clear 64, 25 foot stems of bamboo for garden fencing. We need another 64 to finish and it was harder than we thought, but the visual and audible teachings outside our front door were clear: we are fortunate to be in such good hands even at a time when we cannot work side-by-side and anything else that needs doing around here...needs doing for free ;).
