A short stop in Burnsville, NC on our way to Asheville for Thanksgiving…So crazy awesome that I had booked our Airbnb without realizing that the barn we were about to spend the night in was one that I had excitedly pointed out to Tim a year earlier during one of our “tooling thru the mountains” drives. I was struck at that time not just by the structure but by the beautiful quilt board mounted just below the roofline, facing the road.  The beautiful old barn sits on the side of a creek opposite the owner’s farmhouse. The owners told us when we saw it the previous year they had not yet converted it over to the bnb it is now. Apparently I had tucked away a visual of this barn somewhere in my brain and managed to unwittingly bring us back to this place where we would find peace and inspiration…or something fantastic like that :).

As for the quilt board, these signs can be found on homes and buildings all over Western NC. For this card I thought it would be interesting to design a quilt pattern that reflects our interests as well as our connection to this part of the country…who knows, it might just come to life one day!
