Morning walks find me looking down more than up these days as the leaves have mostly fallen and the bare trees now highlight aspects of living in the city that I find less than aesthetically appealing. While the houses may be dull shades of white, yellow, pale blue and green, and are surrounded by gazillions of wires crisscrossing the streets and homes at the second story line, I take some visual joy from the artistry of our local Department of Public Works. Sure, they are probably just doing their jobs and I bet their markings are color coded for a reason, but still - I detect some visual attitude in a few of these lines and I’ll take what I can get until spring.
