Reading a new book that centers on young girls at boarding school. The author begins with a day when a few of them find a shady spot tucked away off the campus paths and lie down on the grass to hang out: sun coming thru the trees & insects buzzing in the flowers. For the first time far from their parent’s watchful eyes and invasive questions, and for that short time feeling a limitless sense of power in their own skin, they are everything and anything amazing can happen. She wrote the passage so well I was there - for a golden minute.
